Good news, more and more women are riding motorcycles these days! We now make up about 14% of the motorcycle community, a 50% increase in the last decade. However, the stereotypes still exist and we hear some crazy $h!t from people when they find out we ride.
As women continue to push forward with equality and eradicate the molds society once tried to fit us in, I hope the assumptions about who we might be based on the vehicle we ride are diminished as well.

In the meantime, here are some of the hilarious, crazy, odd and flattering things we hear as female motorcyclists.
"So, you're into chicks?"

Interesting...wait what? Sexual preference doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the vehicle I'm operating. How is this even a conversation right now?
"Is that your boyfriend's bike?"

When did a boyfriend come into this equation? No, I ride it, clean it, maintain it and pay for it. Definitely not my boyfriend's bike. I'm flattered you think I have a boyfriend though.
"What is that, like 300 cc's?"

All motorcycles are great, from 50cc little scooters to 1000+ cc race bikes. But the size of the engine has nothing to do with my gender, it has to do with my ability, experience, and needs. I need a street bike, my current bike is a 803cc. Perfect size to take me where I need to go and deliver an adrenaline rush.
"Oh but you don't like work on them by yourself, right?"

By no means am I an expert, hence the name of this website, but I do work on my own bike. I recently learned to change the fluids and I have switched out an array of parts. I am always trying to learn more about motorcycles, and being hands-on is the best way to learn. I do take it to a professional mechanic when I need help, need a check-up or can't fix something myself though.
"Excuse me sir..."

LOL. The helmet and attire are confusing sometimes. No harm, no foul. I find this hilarious and understand that we all just look like a kevlar coated potato on a motorcycle sometimes.
"That's not safe for a woman."

Why is this not safe for a woman in particular? Does that mean it's not safe for a man either? It's a calculated risk like most anything in life, being a woman doesn't make it safer or more dangerous.
"It's ok, I'll meet you there." In regards to me offering a guy a ride.

If you are timid to ride, that's totally ok. I would never make someone ride if they didn't want to. Do what makes you comfortable. However, if you think you'll look like less of a man because you're on the back, let it go buddy and hop on. You don't have to do anything but enjoy the ride and hold onto a woman. I've heard of worse predicaments to be in...
"Is your bike pink?"

Let's not make assumptions. Pink is great, but women don't just live in a sea of pink. There's a spectrum of other colors a motorcycle can be painted.
"Do you know how to fill up the tank?"

Haaa I wish someone would fill up my tank so I could be lazy, but yes, I know how to fill up my own tank. I have to do it every 300 miles or so.
"That's hot!"

Thank you, okurrrr! Keep the positivity and compliments coming!
