Everything has a pink tint to it while traveling. The people seem more attractive with their foreign mystique, the bed is comfier because you didn't make it this morning and the food, every calorie of it, is a justified experience. And when you're in Paris, it's all amplified and you seem to be engulfed in a hot pink bubble of being. You really do see la vie en rose.

We arrived in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, part of the 6th arrondissement of Paris, Wednesday evening. We had 72 hours in Paris so we stayed in an Airbnb to get away from the hotels and to immerse ourselves in the action of the city. The apartment was one block north of City Pharma, the infamous French beauty discount store, and three blocks south of the Seine River.

My sister and I have both visited Paris before and have seen a majority of the museum and tourist circuit. So this time around we spent our three days returning to our favorite places, marveling at the architecture, searching for the best almond croissant, perusing smaller boutiques and absorbing the energy of Paris. Both former New Yorkers, the vivacity of Paris awoke our dormant senses and breathed life into us.
For anyone that has lived in a big city, you'll know the feeling of reintroducing yourself to the ebullience of a metropolis. You remember that you are so small, but that gives you so much freedom to be big. Everyone sees you, but no one is shocked. It gives you the confidence to be bold, to be daring in your appearance, be loud, and add to the noise of the city. It makes you feel irrepressible.

For 72 hours in Paris, here's where we stopped to eat, imbibe, shop, see and admire.
What to see and admire. Lay out in sun and overlook the Louvre pyramid at the Jardin de Tuileries, have a picnic and play bocce ball by a palace in the Jardin de Luxembourg, appreciate the Eiffel Tower on the lawn with a beer in hand, marvel at art exhibits housed in a former railway station at Musée D'Orsay, learn about Napolean's victories at the Arc de Triomphe.

Where to shop. City Pharma for a discounted beauty haul, Les Ginettes to consign in a dreamy space, La Grande Epicerie de Paris for the foodie in your life, Shakespeare & Company to peruse an array of funky books, and all the pop-up shops along the Seine River.

Where to eat. Cafe Mabillon for breakfast and the best pavlova, Derrière for a swanky night out, Cafe Louise for traditional French food in cozy digs, Eggs&Co. for the fluffiest omelet, Don Camilo for dinner and a cabaret show, Pierre Hermé for macarons, Eric Kayser for a surprisingly good almond croissant

Where to drink. Pick up a beer or bottle of wine on the lawn at the Eiffel tower, Andy Wahloo for a craft cocktail and scene, Café de Flore for a casual coffee or spritz, and the Ritz Bar for a proper glass of wine.
